Endoscopic Assisted, Expansion and Scarless Breast Augmentation

By Alex Rider

Breast augmentation has become one of the most popular cosmetic surgeries of today. Women more than ever feel it is socially acceptable, which in turn has made related information easier to find, levels of safety have as a result also improved.

Endoscopic Assisted Breast Augmentation

Of the cosmetic procedures available today breast surgery is one of the most popular. Since the first breast implants were used the art of breast enhancement has evolved in a big way. Modern surgery looks at creating the perfect breasts with the least degree of scarring and the top level of safety.

Plastic surgery involving endoscopy started during the 1990's, later breast augmentation using this method has been very successful. Endoscopic assisted breast augmentation involves much smaller incision marks just large enough to fit the small tubular endoscopes/ probes and their various tools through. Endoscopes are very useful with surgery since they tend to have lights and cameras attached so that the surgeon can see the site of operation on a screen.

Breast augmentation assisted with endoscopy should always be carefully considered and used on qualified patients.

Expansion Breast Augmentation

Expansion breast augmentation was first engineered for the purposes of breast reconstruction, later cosmetic breast enhancement played larger part. Many years of development later expansion-augmentation tends to use permanent saline expanders. This technique allows the patient to post-operatively choose/ adjust the size of their breast implants.

After a three year study of women that had breast implant operations what was seen was that a large number of women wanted to change the shape of their newly created breast size again. Expansion augmentation allows women to modify their breast implants so they get a more desirable result. Additionally, any asymmetry is more easily corrected than with the use of other more traditional non-adjustable implants. Nipple differences, base widths, ptosis, pseudoptosis and volume differences can all be more easily improved. Women that may have a less predictable outcome due to more irregular breasts and surrounding areas have a higher chance of achieving the surgical results they want.

Scarless Breast Augmentation

Scarless breast augmentation requires special patient suitability consideration before operations take place. This surgical procedure involves the only incision being at the belly button so as to create a more natural finished result.

Scarless breast augmentation can not lift breasts to reduce the signs of ageing. It follows that breasts to be operated on must also not have any droopiness prior to the surgery, since this can't be corrected. Enough breast tissue must be present to cover the implant completely.

This type of breast enhancement surgery has faster healing times than the standard augmentation practices. The operation its self is much quicker also, beneficial for patients that may be stretched for time. Typically, post-op patients return to work a day or two later, only a small naval scar remaining. Breast implants are only able to go above the muscle, unlike the last two techniques mentioned.

What must be stressed is that in all cases of breast augmentation very careful consideration of what the patient wants in combination with what the qualified surgeon is able to achieve should take place. Mutual agreement upon the final decision is paramount.
