Liposuction Surgeons - Which One Should You Choose?

By Lavinia Montescue

Liposuction surgeons are making big money with this $20 billion dollar industry. The demand for cosmetic surgery continues to increase as obesity becomes an epidemic. People are looking for a quick fix to their weight problems and liposuction surgeons are in demand.

Recent statistics are showing an alarming increase in liposuction procedures. In just one year, there has been as much as a 30% increase depending on where you are. What's alarming is that people are using liposuction as a cure for obesity when in fact what is needed is a healthy form of weight loss and then perhaps liposuction and reshaping. However, many liposuction surgeons have no problem with the increased liposuction demand and liposuction costs.

There are only a few rare occasions when liposuction is a result of a medical problem, almost always liposuction surgery is a cosmetic procedure. However, there are some liposuction surgeons that would argue otherwise claiming obesity is in fact a medical condition and that makes abdominal liposuction as well as other types of liposuction a medical procedure. Most would agree that a healthier choice to obesity would be changes in lifestyle that include healthy eating and exercise for a long term plan. Liposuction costs are not cheap and unless combined with lifestyle changes you could find yourself facing liposuction surgery in the future again.

Liposuction surgeons suck the fat out of the parts of your body that you want to be thinner. The thighs and abdomen are the two main problem areas, which is why there is so much abdominal liposuction done. The actual skill required to do liposuction is minimal according to BAAPS president McGeorge who says "I could teach a four year old to do it." The part that requires skill in re-sculpting the body after the liposuction so that excess skin is removed without excessive scaring and so that the body is proportional.

Modern times do not hold the same stigma against liposuction surgery. In fact, a liposuction clinic complete with liposuction surgeons is common place and people no longer hide that they are having liposuction surgery whether it's facial liposuction, neck liposuction, abdominal liposuction or some other form. After all the procedure has been around for ever.

You may not be aware that there is also a risk with liposuction surgery just as there is with all surgery. It is however quite low, with 1% of lipo suction procedures resulting in some type of complication and 20% of those complications being serious. One way you can reduce your risk is by ensuring you do your research on the practicing liposuction surgeons and then choosing one with a low incident rate.

Highly skilled liposuction surgeons are the key to a successful liposuction procedure. It's important that you understand the surgery, the risks, and the after liposuction care to reduce the risk of infection.

Liposuction costs are significant and unless you plan to incorporate dieting with your abdominal liposuction treatment, the weight will not stay off. After your liposuction, treatment if you incorporate exercise and healthy eating your stunning new body will last you a lifetime.

Cosmetic surgery is part of life these days. Nobody wants to age and nobody wants those extra pounds, which commonly find the waistline. Liposuction surgeons are high in demand and as obesity continues to be an epidemic; there is no sign of the demand for abdominal liposuction letting up.

You will find skilled liposuction surgeons around the country ready to make life altering changes to your body. But before you agree to go under the knife, you need to be confident in the surgeon you have chosen. Liposuction surgeons are easy to research for, so don't delay. It will give you the confidence you need in your choice.

Do your search for lipo surgeons locally, and interstate. You never know where the best practitioner lives!
