Facelift, also called Rhytidectomy, is a plastic cosmetic surgery in which extra, loose skin is being removed and sometimes tightened, in order to get younger appearance.
The first face lift was made at 1901 in Berlin.
The face lift procedure is made on the patients face and neck. Facelifts sometimes combines with other surgeries, such as: eye surgery and skin resurfacing.
Facelift Best Candidate:
The best candidate for facelift might be either a man or a woman, between the ages of 40 and 75.
When the skin starts to look saggy and wrinkled and the person feels unattractive and that a change is needed, that is the best time to have the first consultation with a facelift surgeon.
There are many things that can affect the appearance of the person's skin and the results of the facelift surgery: High cheek bones, strong jaw, oily or dry skin, nutrition, life style, sun and tan, smoking, alcohol, stress, and more.

Facelift Plastic Surgery Procedure: |

The procedure takes about 4 hours. During the procedure an incision is made from the neck hairline, goes behind the ear, above the temple and then under the lobe and up to the hairline.
The incision is as camouflaged as possible. The skin is being separated from the fat tissue and the muscles, then the skin is being stretched, the muscles are being tightened and the extra skin is being removed.
The patient has to stay 24 hours in the clinic after the facelift surgery for recovery and observation. The surgery doesn't hurt during or after the procedure.

Risks of Facelift Plastic Surgery: |
|
The procedure is usually very successful with no complications, but like every surgery some mild complications might occur: Bleedings, scars, swellings, hemorrhages. Some bleeding might require return to the surgery room;
therefore the patient stays for 24 hours observation after the surgery.

Tips for Facelift: |
- Have the surgery only at a known surgeon with good reputation and at certified places.
- The facelift won't stop you from growing old; it will only make you look younger for a while until nature hits again.
- You should stay at home 3 weeks after the surgery for full recovery.
- It will take the face about 6-12 years to get back to what they were before the surgery.
- Younger people can also have the facelift surgery, only they usually don't do the whole thing but have smaller parts for renovations.
- To preserve the result there is no need to have any more treatment but it will sure help to: live healthier, do sports, drink a lot of water, avoiding stress, avoiding smoking, and avoiding sun and tan.
- Blue marks on the face and swellings might show for 2-3 weeks after the surgery, they will gradually fade.
