Laser Hair removal is the name of the cosmetic procedure in which a cosmetician or a doctor operates a laser device to take off the unwanted hairs from the patient's body.

The word "laser" stands for "light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation."

The first laser, called ruby laser, was invented at 1960. Since then there were a lot of lasers that were invented. The first hair removal laser device was invented at 1979, but was found as unstable and ineffective. After years of research at 1995 the new and improved laser device was invented and at 1997 was out on the market.

The hair removal procedure is made by using a special cosmetic laser device which makes a beam of light. The cosmetic laser procedure is accurate and quick. The black hairs absorb the heat from the cosmetic laser beam and get destroyed. Blonde and light hair can not be destroyed because they can not absorb the laser beam.

The Laser Hair Removal procedure takes between 5-12 treatments depending on the patient's hair, the density of the hair, hormones, and the area where the cosmetic laser procedure is made. Hair removal is made on men and women, today we can see more and more men that are having the procedure to reduce of eliminate the hair they have usually on their back and stomach. About 90% of the hair will be removed by using the laser hair removal series of treatments.

It is very important to have the laser hair removal procedure in a certified place and to consult a dermatologist.

Don't be fooled by low prices! The prices for hair removal today are not high, so before starting the series of treatments, it's better to check the place and ask for certifications.

Tips for Laser Hair Removal:

  • Don't bleach the hair you want to lose. The darker the hair, the better the procedure will work.
  • Try the laser treatment on a small part first. That way you can make sure you are no sensitive to the laser treatment and also that you won't have any marks left after the procedure.
  • Don't tan the area where you have the laser hair removal treatment. Especially 1 month before the treatment and 1 month after.
  • Before every laser treatment, make sure to wash the area with soap.
  • If you take Isotretinoin for acne, you can't have the laser hair removal procedure because it might make scars and burns to the skin.
  • If you have dark skin you should try the procedure on a small part first to make sure you won't get any marks.
  • Before every treatment you need to shave the area where you have the hair removal procedure. Try to shave it one day before the treatment, that way you won't feel stings and burns.
  • You can anaesthetize the area one hour before the laser treatment by using anaesthetic creams.
  • After the treatment use Aloe Vera on the area of the hair removal to calm the skin and prevent redness and itches.
  • If you remove hair from the face, you can use makeup and other cosmetic products with no alcohol, one day after the treatment.
  • If you have any side effects from the treatment consult the medical staff from the place where you have the hair removal treatments.
