Liposuction, also known as lipoplasty or suction lipectomy, is a cosmetic surgery made to sculpt the body by removing unwanted excesses fat from areas that do not respond to dieting, such as: Abdomen, buttocks, thighs, knees, upper arms, forearms, cheeks, chin, hips, neck and men's breasts.

The body is made of body cells which multiply until adolescence and then stay stable.
When a person loses weight the cells do not vanish but shrink. In the liposuction procedure the cells are being suctioned so if the person gains weight again the fat will gather in other cells. Therefore people that had liposuction will gain the weight in other places of the body after the liposuction surgery.
The best is to have the liposuction surgery before the age of forty, when the skin is still elastic and adjustable.

Liposuction Plastic Surgery Procedure:

Before the surgery the surgeon will draw lines on the patient's body, while standing so the fat won't expand, to mark the suction areas. The surgeon will make an incision on the patient's body; the incision is 0.5 centimeter long. A small tube is inserted through the incision and the procedure begins by suctioning the fat cells. The maximum fat that can be suctioned at a single suction is 2-3 kilogram. If more is needed, another surgery will be made after several months. The surgery takes about 1.5-2 hours.

Risks of Liposuction Plastic Surgery:

Liposuction is normally safe and known surgery. Like in every other surgery some side effects might appear, for instance: Bruising, some allergic reaction, infections, and bumpy skin.

  • After the surgery, shower don't bath.
  • The result will be seen right away, but final result will be seen after 1-6 month because of the swelling and bruising.
  • Normal but mild activities can be made after a few weeks, depending on the patient's recovery. Consult your surgeon.
  • Drink enough water to prevent dehydration that might happen because of the fluid suction.
  • Don't drink alcohol 1 week before and 1 week after the liposuction surgery.
